CB Mining is an independent family-owned corporation that is growing. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Washington, PA, CB Mining focuses on product support for Longwall mines. Established from part of the Caterpillar mining group, CB Mining has grown from 2 locations in Washington, PA to now 4 locations, with additions in Marion, IL and Tuscaloosa, AL, We provide customers with rebuild services, CST gearbox rebuilds, welding and fabrications services, service exchange units, custom made cabling solutions, life cycle services including oil sampling and vibration analysis, robust inventory support, compatibility services and underground technical support. We also provide extensive machining, chroming, laser cladding, and hydraulic repairs through our valued partner Cleveland Brothers. This position may perform any combination of the following duties and is a working leadership role.

Responsibilities to include :
• Establishes priorities for the second shift and directs the work of the weld bay.
• Educate new employees in CB Mining processes & procedures.
• Keeping employees on task to ensure work stays on time and on budget.
• Coaching employees to improve workflow and stay on task.
• Evaluate employee performance & set goals for improvement.
• Ensuring that deadlines are met, and work is accomplished as efficiently as possible.
• Oversees accurate time entry of 2nd shift employees including time off approvals.
• Coordinates with 1st shift to ensure a continual flow of work.
• Work with 1st shift lead to ensure that employees are allocated properly.
• Ensures that all CB Mining Safety guidelines are maintained.
Key Personal Background Requirements
• 5+ years in managing/overseeing welding/fabrication employees.
• Proven leadership skills
• History of mentoring/educating new welders a plus
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with managers, employees, and other leads.
• Proven welding and fabrication experience.
• Vocational-technical school and/or secondary level trade school training in welding technology.
• Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, equipment, hazards, and safety precautions of the welding trade. Certifications are a plus.
• Skilled in FCAW .045 - solid wire with 85/15 gas and SMAW - all positions
• Ability to maintain consistent, punctual, and regular attendance.
• Ability to read blueprints and layouts and accurately interpret for employees.
• Ability to utilize and instruct in carbon arcing, oxy-fuel torch use, and plasma cutting.
• Ability to work with and oversee Heavy plate fabrication.
• Ability to run and oversee overhead cranes use and have safe rigging practices.
Employment weld test consists of: Flat - inch plate beveled 45 degrees with 2mm nose - Plates are tacked together with 2 mm opening, no backing plate, and open root - Weld root pass with heat setting of 19 volts and 200 amps - Remainder of weld is set at 28.5 volts and 325 amps
Vertical - Same plate as flat - Position vertical run root pass down with settings 19 volts 200 amps - Remainder will be welded vertical up with a weave pattern at a setting of 18 volts and 180 amps - All welds are checked for full penetration and then cut 2 pieces 1 in wide and bent, face side and root side, checking for breakage - Wire 045 solid wire with 85/15 gas.
