Job Title: TECHNICAL SALES ENGINEER

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Technical Sales Engineer in Richmond, Virginia. The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for providing technical counsel to internal/external customers to develop proposals and negotiate contracts for new business opportunities.  Additional responsibilities include developing new business opportunities that increase equipment, parts and service sales through direct face-to-face contact. Seeking candidates with a minimum five years technical experience in the Electric Power Generation field, specifically the Generator/Switchgear and Transfer Switch/UPS business segments. Minimum of one year’s sales experience preferred.

Requirements for the Technical Sales Engineer position include:
Self-starter able to work with limited supervision. Strong mechanical, technical, and electrical aptitude required.Must be able to multi-task while maintaining organized and detailed documentation of all conversations.Must have a strong sense of urgency and a desire to exceed customer expectations.Strong written and verbal communication skills required.Strong leadership skills and a commitment to teamwork.Clean driving record and a valid driver's license required. Frequent travel is required – overnight or out of town via car or airplane.Must be able to handle large volumes of work in a fast-paced environment.Promote a positive customer experience.Uphold the Core Values of Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, and Teamwork by embracing The Carter Way.
