Position Description

NSLS-II Electrical Design Group has an opening for a 2-year term PCB Designer/Senior Drafter. Reporting to the Design Group Supervisor, the candidate will perform drafting duties in support of NSLS-II Accelerator Division. This position will require close interaction with technicians, engineers and scientific staff. The main task will be to provide electro-mechanical drafting, document revision control, and library creation/management, using a variety of CAD/CAM platforms. Tasking will also include provision of drafting support for development and special project initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
CAD library creation/management
Create and maintain Schematic and PCB Symbols per IPC-2221
Experience with ECN Processes (Engineering Change Notification)
Ability to work directly with scientific, engineering and technical staff
Maintain and implement safety practices and procedures applicable to daily activities


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus:
BS degree in a technical field and 2 years work experience or;
Technical institute, Adult BOCES certification, AA degree in a technical field, CCI program completion at BNL plus 6 years' experience or;
Technical high school certification program (e.g. BOCES) and 7 years' relevant work experience or;
8 years relevant work experience


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience creating and maintaining Schematic and PCB Symbols for Siemens (PADS) Logic/Layout or DX Designer or Cadence OrCAD Capture and PCB
Conformance to applicable Printed Circuit Board Schematic and Layout standards, codes and policies such as IPC-2221, 2222 and 2223 and drafting standard ASME Y14.5M
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a varied group of technical staff
Experience with various products supporting electrical and mechanical drafting releases, and complex diagrams including:
Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault
MS VISIO
DocuSign
SharePoint


Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements:
Occasional work at heights, extreme temperature, confined space, oxygen deficiency, radiation areas, static magnetic fields, on scaffolding and ladders
Must be able to complete tasks repeatedly
Must have ability to view color, depth perception and hearing

Brookhaven Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable and competitive compensation. This is a multi-level role and the full salary range for this position is $76100 - $100000 / year. You will be placed at the level and salary commensurate with your experience. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualification, education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
