Position Description

The BNL Space Manager will work in the Site Planning and Infrastructure Group, under the supervision of the BNL Campus Planning and Development Manager. The Campus Planning and Development Office is a core function of the BNL Facilities and Operations Directorate, charged with addressing both the short term and long-range operational needs of BNL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Brookhaven Lab Space Manager plays a critical role in spearheading the space management and occupancy planning activities for both day-to-day and long term BNL needs.Manage, keep current, and maintain the BNL Space Management database on a day-to-day basis for a growing campus of over 300 buildings and approximately 3,000 employees.Manage the BNL space archiving system, Autodesk Vault.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires an associate's degree in a related field (I.e. Architectural Drafting, Architectural Technology, Workplace Planning, Facility Operations) or equivalent experience, generally based on the basis of 2:1 (experience: college) years, plus 2 years' work experience. Ability to use AutoCAD to create and modify drawings and prepare as-built drawings.Ability to read and interpret architectural floor plans.Knowledge of general facility space management principles and practices.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Access, Excel, MS TEAMS, and PowerPoint.Good customer service skills.Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing).Ability to work independently with minimal direction, as well as with a team.Ability to facilitate meetings with clients to obtain needs and requirements.Strong attention to detail, problem solving, research, and organizational skills.Ability to conduct field assessments and space verifications via site visits and observations.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (I.e. Architectural Drafting, Architectural Technology, Workplace Planning, Facility Operations) or equivalent experience, generally based on the basis of 2:1 (experience: college) years, plus 2 years' work experience.Working knowledge of FM Interact and/or FM Systems.Working knowledge of other commercially available facility space planning software.Experience with the administration of AutoCAD systems is desirable.The ability to prepare basic cost estimates is desirable.Knowledge of archiving software such as Autodesk Vault is desirable.General knowledge of Department of Energy (DOE) Orders related to space utilization, the Facility Information Management System (FIMS), and AFDCS.Knowledge of basic building mechanical and electrical systems.

Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements:
The position required the ability to use fixed and portable ladders.This is an office position. However, travel to and walking around the over 300 buildings at the BNL campus will be required.Ability to wear proper PPE such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection when required.Standing, bending, and lifting, up to 30 lbs.Several facilities at BNL are radiological facilities and require special dosimetry and training for access. These will be provided by BNL as required.

Other Information:
A valid Driver's License is required.This is a full-time on-site position at BNL.Minimal travel may be required for employee training purposes.BNL business hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.This is a salaried position.

Brookhaven Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable and competitive compensation. The full salary range for this position is $67250 - $95500 / year. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualification, education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
